NCR Victorious in Round 1 of Canadian R.A.C.E. Heavyweight Championship!

dsc_3556.jpgdsc_3511.jpgDerek and former champion Jim Proulx…. lightness and power wins on 4 cylinder Kawa!!!

The new NCR MILLONA ONE SHOT 07 was the weapon of choice for the first round of the Canadian R.A.C.E. Heavyweight Championship at Shannonville, Ontario Canada.

Following a great win at Daytona by Walter Bartolini in the Sound of Thunder, the motorcycle jewel went up to Canada to compete in the regional championship. The motorcycle was ridden by Derek Vammus who had ridden the 06 version to a big win in the last race last year.

In the Heavyweight Class, the track record was 0:57.12 in this tight demanding track and Derek was able to qualify in the front row with a best of 0:57.30. During the race, Derek took the lead from the first lap and never gave it up except for a brief moment in the second last lap where former champion Jim Proulx on his 4 cylinder Kawasaki superbike passed him in one turn but Derek quickly leaped ahead and stayed there after a hard fought battle. In the process, Derek turned a best of 0:55.93 which was more than 1.1 seconds faster than the previous lap record!!!

Congratulations Derek !!!

Stay tuned because round 2 is on May 18-20!!!

Italian Supertwins championship: Vallelunga

NCR CORSE presents the MILLONA FACTORY 2007

It will be a very competitive championship because of the opening duel between NCR and Moto Guzzi, the NCR Millano vs the Moto Guzzi MGS-01, Bartolini vs Guareschi. On the eve of the opening battle, Valter Barlolini was unfortunately injured during a training session on his Supermoto and was not able to contest the opening round of the Supertwins Championship. It was unfortunate because Valter was just coming off his amazing win on the NCR Millona Factory 2007, the very bike that won the Sound of Thunder at Daytona several weeks ago.

NCR Corse then quickly engaged Paolo Bentivogli on the NCR Millona Factory 2007. Paolo already dominated and won the Supertwins championship on the Millona Factory in 2005. The practice sessions were interrupted by rain and cold weather and had resulted in the the three Moto Guzzis of Guareschi, Veghini and Liverani in front of Paolo Bentivogli in fourth. To note, Enrico Martini (57 years old) in the senior class qualified in 12th position on his NCR Millona One Shot.

The race took place in perfect sunny weather with a slightly slower track but nonetheless, optimal racing conditions. Quickly Bentivogli and Guareschi create a gap over the other Moto Guzzi’s and by turning 1:45 laps. Paolo chose his moment in the 10th of 12 laps and passed the potent 4V Moto Guzzi in the fast section of the track. In the last lap, the Bentivogli’s NCR Millona was ahead of Guareschi’s Moto Guzzi and in the very last turn, Guareschi was able to take a risky move and squeeze by Bentivogli for the win. Considering that Bentivogli had very little time to acclimate to the 07 NCR Millona Factory bike, he was able to ride very competitively for the lead which shows that the NCR Millona package is a solid race bike. NCR also congratulates Enrico Martini for an overall 11th place position and winner of the senior class of the race.

Next race is in Misano on May 20th.

DAYTONA 2007

Look at the following video which captures a great moment in Daytona, where Valter Bartolini captures a great win aboard the NCR Millona, as well as duel between Larry Pegram and Nick Ienatch aboard NCR New Blue’s and finally, an historic moment where Cook Neilson wips around Daytona on the New Blue made in his and Phil Schillings honor.

The moment solidifies the hard work of the continuous development of the pursuit of the passion of NCR but also the culmination of development that lead to the win in the predominant class of Sound of Thunder where Walter set a lap record of 1:45.4 which was one full second faster than his competitor Guareschi on his Moto Guzzi.

Given that this was Valter’s first time at Daytona, it shows the potential of NCR’s development of the 1200cc version of the Ducati 1000DS 2 valve engine. The base engine develops 77 hp at the wheel and it is magically worked on by NCR’s know how to develop 115 hp aqt the wheel, almost a 40 hp increase while surviving the rigors of Daytona. Given that the 1200cc version is just a the beginning of the development cycle, it is still very impressive that it was able to hit 182 mph at 10,000 rpm. The combination of the excellent power to weight ratio and simplicity of the air cooled 2 valve engine gives the edge to NCR to be able to achieve an incredible motorcycle weight of 270 lbs combined with an incredible torque of 87 lb-ft at the rear wheel.

Also note that Valters time would have put him a solid 5th place in the AMA Formula Extreme class later in the week. Interesting….

In Summary:
Great Victory of Bartolini on the NCR Millona in the Sound of Thunder with a time of 1:45.4, third and fourth place for Larry Pegram (DNA) and Nick Ienatch (Cycle World) aboard the NCR New Blue and the historic celebration of Cook Neilson on New Blue.

Wow.

Cook Neilson at Daytona with NEW BLUE!

NCR and Ducati North America celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the Cook’s Neilson victory conquered in Daytona with the Ducati 750SS “Old Blue” tuned by Phil Shilling in ‘77; this was the first victory for Ducati in America.

During the Daytona Bike Week Cook Neilson did three laps with NEW BLUE, the new motorcycle produced by NCR and based on the new Ducati Sport1000S. The paint scheme of NEW BLUE remembers the Old Blue one, in fact this model is the fusion of historical and technological values.

The NEW BLUE that you can see in the movie, serial number NCRNB01/50, was delivered personally to the owner by Cook Neilson, after a great presentations done inside the Ducati Village, to celebrate his victory.

NCR at the Ducati Village in Daytona

After the great success achieved by Valter Bartolini with his MILLONA ONE SHOT during the Sound of Thunder race at the Daytona Iternational Speedway, NCR exposed in the Ducati Village the MILLONA ONE SHOT and the two NEW BLUE that raced the first two days of the Daytona Bike Week.

The Village was really a great place where all the Ducatisti could stay, enjoing together the AMA races, the Ducati North America events and to admire the Ducati and the NCR motorcycles.

NCR WINS AT DAYTONA!!!

Bartolini and his MILLONA ONE SHOT!

NCR and factory rider Valter Bartolini conquered Daytona. The rider from Imola, dominated the supreme class of the Sound Of Thunder on the NCR Millona One Shot.

Bartolini narrowingly missed the victory earlier in the day by a few inches in the Battle Of The Twins race. Valter got a little unlucky passing some lapped riders and just finished short to Moto Guzzi’s Guareschi and lapped the circuit in 1:46 (BOTT lap record). NCR’s Bartolini was able to improve on his lap time to 1:45.4 which was 2 seconds faster than he was able to do the day before. Not bad for a first showing at Daytona. The results show the great power and agility of the NCR Millona One Shot. By the way, Valter had to start from the back of the starting grid!

Valter Bartolini showed that once he started familiarizing himself with the track, he was able to start chipping away at executing phenomenal inside and outside turn passes. The NCR Millona allows exceptional deep braking and mid corner corrections which come in handy at Daytona.

So after two days at Daytona, NCR was able to collect a win, two seconds and two thirds including a third by Ducati Factory rider Larry Pegram. Cycle World’s Nick Ienatch battled former team mate Larry Pegram on board NCR’s New Blue.

NCR would like to thank Valter Bartolini, Nick Ienatch and Larry Pregram for their exceptional riding and supprt throughout the event.

To top it all, it was NCR’s honor to have the legendary Cook Neilson take a few laps of honor on the NCR New Blue.

Overall, it was a great event for NCR.
