Second Place for NCR in Canada this Weekend!

dsc_2345.jpgdsc_0647.jpgdsc_2316.jpg

NCR Corse raced a tough battle in the fourth round of the R.A.C.E. Superseries in Canada. NCR factory rider Derek Vammus fought a tough fight with Jim Proulx on his Kawasaki Superbike. After qualifying second, Derek Vammus, Jim Proulx and Michael Ferreira completed the first row. The flagged dropped and Derek had the inside line and Ferreira purposely pushed Derek in an obvious tactic to hold him back while Jim Proulx got away up ahead. Ferreira played this game for almost two laps and continuously held Derek back by blocking him at every opportunity. Derek managed to get by him by the second lap but by then it was too late and Derek had to settle for second. Oddly enough, Ferreira pulled out of the race as soon as Derek passed him. Hummmm…

Derek is looking forward to the race in two weeks.

Let the fun begin!!

Stay tuned!

NCR dominates the Ducati Speed Week!

Il podio della classe Open!Bartolini sorpassa e stacca la Yamaha R1 di Pellizzon!Bartolini e la sua MILLONA FACTORY 07!Liverani su NEW BLUE FACTORY 07!

NCR Corse was present with factory rider Valter Bartolini on the NCR Millona Factory 07 and rider-journalist Gian Maria Liverani on the New Blue Factory 07 to compete in ProTwins (DDC), Open Class (DSW) and in the second round of the European Supertwins Championship. NCR Corse customers Enrico Martini (Millona One Shot), Fabrizio Tinti (Millona One SHot) and Giancarlo Castelli (Millona S).

Valter Bartolini dominated the classes by winning 3 races and while setting an overall track record of 1:57.49 which was 1.4 seconds faster than the previous record set by Andreas Meklau on his Suzuki GSXR 1000 Superbike.

Bartolini won the Ducati Desmo Challenge and finished ahead of Ivano Pigliacelli on his Bimota DB5. Bartolini also won the European Supertwins Championship and finished ahead of Liverani on his NCR New Blue. Liverani had an impressive lap time of 2:02.4 on New Blue wich shows the potential of this new motorcycle.

The most interesting and competitive race was in the Open Class with motorcycles from Superbike, Supersprot and Superstock. WIth the strong running of the hand made NCR millona Factory, Bartolini entered the supreme class with the hope of doing well.

Amazingly, Bartolini won pole in the Open Class and then set out to match that result in the race. At the end of the second lap, Bartolini was in second position and on his way to attack Pellizzon on his Yamaha R1 Superstock. On lap 3, Bartolini managed to take the lead and set the fastest lap of the weekend with a 1:57.4!! After battling strong winds and lapped traffic, Valter Bartolini amazingly finished the race in first place while giving the spectators an exciting race. How can it be? How can a Ducati powered 2 vlave air cooled engine reign supreme in an Open Class? Perhaps there is a great formula in the 40 years that NCR has been crafting its magic.

We would like to thank Bartolini, the NCR Corse team, the NCR racers and the fans for the great success and support. Three victories by Bartolini, a second by Liverani, a fourth for Martini, a fifth for Tinti and a top ten for Castelli. That is five NCR bikes in the top ten!!

We could not have dreamt it any better.

Thank you everyone!

In front of 50,000 Ducatisti from 28 different countries, NCR’s Valter Bartolini dominated the fourth round of the Ducati Desmo Challenge (DDC) on the 2007 NCR Millona Factory. In qualifying, Valter set a new lap record for 2 valves with a 1:42.804 and grabbed pole position. The qualifying time was the second fastest time for all classes second to Romanelli’s 1:42.082 with his Ducati 1098 Superstock.

The NCR Corse team had 8 Millona’s with Bartolini, Artigues and Selllone in the top 8 out of 33 riders. Tinti, Martini, Bendinelli, Casstelli and Giuliana Teverino completed the NCR Corse team of Millona enthusiasts.

During the race, Valter got into a early rhythm and set an incredible pace in the low 1:43’s and then set a new lap record again with a 1:42.700 finishing 32 seconds ahead of second place.

It was also a great race for Alessandro Sellone who fought back up to fifth place after a poor start and frenchman Charles Artigues finishing sixth and Fabrizio Tinti in tenth position thus giving NCR Corse 4 riders in the top 10!!

Overall it was a great weekend for NCR fans with an incredible victory, four riders in the top 10, eight Millona’s on the track and all finishing without any mechanical issues or crashes!!! That is the good life!!
Fantastic also the momentum spent with Cook Neilson, Phil Schilling and Paul Smart. To celebrate the Neilson-Schilling’s Daytona 1977 victory, Cook Neilson rode NEW BLUE during the WDW, it was really great!

NCR Continues to Lead the canadian RACE Heavyweight Championship!

dsc_1415.jpgdsc_0394.jpg

This past weekend saw another trademark fierce battle between NCR Factory rider Derek Vammus and Jim Proulx on his Kawasaki Superbike. During qualification, Derek was able to turn consistent 1:09.5’s which equaled the previous record of 1:09.495 he set in the previous round at the end of May but it was only good enough for second in qualifying. NCR continued on the bike set-up and ended up improving the bike handling tremendously and also thanks to Sandy at Pro6 and Dunlop tire.

The race saw Derek drive third into turn one and then quickly challenged for second. Derek didn’t want Kawasaki rider Jim Proulx to get away in front so he used the NCR Millona’s quick handling to carve his way into second. Then by half way throughthe first lap at the beginning of the long back straight, Derek was right behind Jim. Derek would have an advantage in the light weight and lots of torque of the NCR Millona to gain at the first half of the straight only to give it up at the three quarter mark due to the high horsepower of the superbike but then gain under braking at the the end of the straight. This continued for a few laps until Vammus was able to pass Proulx at the hairpin at the halfway mark of the race. Vammus then led for a while until the second last lap when Proulx dove into Derek on the inside at the end of the back straight and “pushed” Derek to the outside of the track. Derek was able to save the bike and avoided both of them crashing and had to settle for second….for this time!!!

Derek Vammus and the NCR Millona improved their lap times to an unofficial 1:09.08 which he turned consistently throughout the race. Derek was quoted as saying “we improved the set-up of the NCR Millona a lot and the last minute gearing change helped the drive out of the turns quite a bit. I’m looking forward to the next round where the circuit will be the demanding, tight and technical Long Track which I enjoy a lot”.

NCR and Derek Vammus lead the Race Heavyweight Superseries by one point over Jim Proulx. Stay tuned!!!!

NCR - Ducati Victory at 85th Loudon Classic Races - Supertwins

NCR teamed up with Ducati North America, racer extraordinaire Eric Wood, tuner wizard Bruce Myers and Cliff’s Cycle Revolution to race the NCR Millona 07 in the oldest motorcycle race event in North America. Eric first rode the bike on Thursday and quickly set out to set up the suspension to the track and to his preferences with the help of Bruce Myers. The NCR Millona’s power to weight ratio was quickly evident because Eric was able to approach the overall air cooled tack record of 1:13.8.

With pole position in Supertwins, Eric was able to lead a charge into the first turn and quickly started to leave the field behind by turning a blistering pace in the high 1:13’s. Early int he race he broke the over track record for air cooled motorcycles with a 1:13.455 and finished over 12 seconds ahead of the field. Eric noted, “This bike is simply amazing and so much fun to ride. The NCR acts like a 250GP bike. You can carry momentum into the corner, then just think and it turns! And the brakes, the brakes are phenomenal.”

With the Supertwins race in hand, Eric also entered the Millona in the Unlimited GP class which includes large 4 cylinder liter superbikes. Eric started 4th on the grid and was 5th into turn one and set about attacking the leaders. In turn 3, he overshot his braking point and had to recompose himself a little as found himself in 7th position. Eric then set out to meticulously slice through the field to and challenged for 4th position. He continued his intense attack and then captured 3rd place while breaking the record he set the previous day with a 1:12.878. Wow!!! “I really enjoyed riding the NCR this weekend”, said Eric atop the 3rd place slot. “It was a tremendous opportunity and a lot of fun. I want to thank Joe from NCR Corse, Chris from Cliff’s Cycle Revolution, and Jason from Ducati NA for putting this together so quickly. Bruce did a great job setting up the bike to run fast and I can’t wait to see what they bring next year!”

NCR would like to thank Eric Wood, Jason Routhier at Ducati North America, Bruce Muyers at Bruce Myers Performance, CHris Kirkness at Cliff’s Cycle Revolution and Jerry Wood at Penguin Racing School.

With victories in Daytona-Florida, Loudon-NH, Assen - Holland, Ontario - Canada, Vallelunga - Italy, NCR is having a good spring!!!

See you all at the next event

NCR WINS IN VARANO!!!

NCR Corse wins the third round of the Italian Championship in Varano, Italy

Valter Bartolini, aboard his Millona Factory 07, dominated practice, qualifying and the race while setting a new track record in the Supertwins Class with a 1:10.60 by taking advantage of the great power to weight ratio of the NCR millona to distance himself from the Guareschi ridden Moto Guzzi Factory bike.

The front row grid had four manufacturers with the Bimota of Bentivogli and the Ducati of De Noni to complement the NCR and Moto Guzzi of Bartolini and Guareschi. There was an early incident that involved the tangling of the two Bimota’s of Bentivogli and Piglicelli which left Bentivoglia and Guareschi to fight it out in front. Bartolini set an incredible pace and broke the lap record again with a 1:10.555 and pulled out in front to finish 12 secondds ahead of second place Guareschi on his Moto Guzzi.

This places Bartolini within 5 points of Guareschi. Recall that Bartolini was not able to compete in the first round because of a Supermoto training accident just before the event.

Congratulations to amateur NCR Millona riders Fabrizio Tinti and Enrico Martini who finished 9th and 11th place overall.

NCR WINS IN ASSEN!!!

dscn0308_2.jpgPronti a partire!dscn0254.jpg

A great result by NCR in the Ducati European Club Race in Assen organized by Ducati North Europe.

Ducatisti Valter Bartolini, on his NCR Factory Millona dominated and won the two races of the Supertwins European Championship in front of a crowd of 15,000.

The first of two races consisted of the Sound Of Thunder (SOT) a class open to all Superbike, Supersport and Superstock Ducati’s. The class is the third most important following the MotoGP and SBK classes. The NCR Factory Millona ridden by Bartolini surprised and entertained the crowd by a podium finish in both races just behind the danish Ducati 1098 Superstock and the european Supersport Champion on his 749R.

It was Bartolini’s first time at the Assen circuit but quickly managed a fourth best time of 1:47.5 and then later improved his time during the race to a 1:46.3 (263 kph top speed) which was only 1.8 seconds off the lap record. There was a very exciting battle for third between Valter and the danish Champion on his 1098 where the top speed of the new superbike was offset by the handling and torque of the Factory Millona to an exciting third position and podium finish.

So two third place finishes in the European Sound Of Thunder for NCR’s Bartolini.

Two NCR Millona’s from Holland and Germany each alternately finished third in the Open 2 Valve class on their Millona S.

NCR Victorious in Round 1 of Canadian R.A.C.E. Heavyweight Championship!

dsc_3556.jpgdsc_3511.jpgDerek and former champion Jim Proulx…. lightness and power wins on 4 cylinder Kawa!!!

The new NCR MILLONA ONE SHOT 07 was the weapon of choice for the first round of the Canadian R.A.C.E. Heavyweight Championship at Shannonville, Ontario Canada.

Following a great win at Daytona by Walter Bartolini in the Sound of Thunder, the motorcycle jewel went up to Canada to compete in the regional championship. The motorcycle was ridden by Derek Vammus who had ridden the 06 version to a big win in the last race last year.

In the Heavyweight Class, the track record was 0:57.12 in this tight demanding track and Derek was able to qualify in the front row with a best of 0:57.30. During the race, Derek took the lead from the first lap and never gave it up except for a brief moment in the second last lap where former champion Jim Proulx on his 4 cylinder Kawasaki superbike passed him in one turn but Derek quickly leaped ahead and stayed there after a hard fought battle. In the process, Derek turned a best of 0:55.93 which was more than 1.1 seconds faster than the previous lap record!!!

Congratulations Derek !!!

Stay tuned because round 2 is on May 18-20!!!
